Business travel insurance
The QBE Executive International Policy is available to permanent residents under 70 years of age to insure business travel, and can be purchased for trips up to 12 months. The policy is not available to cover non-business travel, but will provide cover for leisure travel that forms part of a business trip as long as the trip is principally for business. Cover can be arranged for any region in the world, and extends to domestic air travel that is booked as part of the international trip and falls within 24 hours of departure. Travel insurance must be issued in advance of the trip commencing, and a medical appraisal can be arranged if cover is required for existing medical conditions.
Increased limits and additional business benefits
Business travel insurance policies come with increased levels of cover for a range of benefits - including kidnapping, loss of income, repatriation of remains, and luggage and personal effects. Additional business benefits also come as standard, including alternative staff cover for a replacement employee to complete an assignment if you need to return home as a result of an injury or illness, and emergency business equipment and clothing hire cover where business equipment or clothing is lost, delayed or damaged.
Luggage and personal effects
Increased total and sub-limits apply for luggage and personal effects, with total cover of $30,000 (per adult) and sub-limits of $7,500 per item personal computers and $2,000 per item for other items. Lost, stolen or damaged luggage and personal effects purchased new within the last two years will be repaired or replaced, or the original purchase price will be reimbursed with no depreciation applied (provided that you have the original purchase receipt).
Areas of cover
If your main destination falls in Region 2, 3 or 4, you are able to make a stopover in a higher Region for up to a maximum of 6 days at no additional cost. The stopover dates must be shown on the Certificate of Insurance, and the higher Region cannot be your final destination. Alternatively, for short side trips it is possible to upgrade the Region for an additional daily premium. For anything longer than a short side trip, it is usually more cost-effective to purchase a policy for the highest required Region for the complete trip.

The excess applicable to the QBE Executive International Policy can be selected when getting a quote and purchasing a policy online. The standard excess is $100 per claimable event, but this can be reduced to nil, or increased to $500 per claimable event. The higher the excess selected, the lower the overall premium for the policy.
